The Skinny

The Maya Wrap ComfortFit Sling is a sling-style carrier that works for babies from 8-35 lbs and is customizable enough for parents of different sizes within reason. This fabric sling has adjustment rings and a zippered pocket on the sling's tail for small storage. Compared to the top-ranked baby carriers, the Maya Wrap is easy to get on, adjust with your baby inside, and is comfortable for both the wearer and the baby. The sling's material is probably not the best option for little ones with sensitive skin as the fabric is somewhat rough and itchy, like a Mexican blanket. However, we love this easy-to-use sling's simplicity and reasonable price, which offers so much for parents and little passengers, making it an attractive option for carrying your child while moving about.

Our Analysis and Test Results

The Maya Wrap company makes two different ring sling options. Their main goal is to help parents get things done with their babies by their side. The Maya Wrap company has been making slings since 1996 and is considered by some as one of the first mass-marketed baby sling carriers.

Baby's Comfort

The ComfortFit Sling earned one of the highest scores for a baby's comfort.

Little ones sit comfortably in this secure sling and can be pulled closer for comfort or given more room for movement as desired. The sling feels like a hammock inside with a form-fitting seat and allows for a naturally rounded back position. Our tiny testers felt very content in the sling, and many fell asleep while wearing it. The only downside is that the fabric feels like a Mexican blanket and is thick and somewhat itchy. We hope it softens over time, but parents may want to consider other fabric options when making a style or color choice.

Parent's Comfort

The ComfortFit Sling earned a place near the top of the pack for parent comfort.

The simplicity of the sling means you can tailor the size to fit your frame. The wider swath of fabric over the shoulder also means less of a pressure point supporting a baby's weight. Shifting the sling forward or back or more on your hip allows you to move your baby around for your comfort should your body become fatigued on longer trips. You can also tighten the sling to bring your baby closer to your body, which helps distribute the weight for easier carrying.

Ease of Use

The ComfortFit Sling is by far one of the easiest carriers to use.

It's available in two different lengths, standard and long, and selecting the sling's length depends on your body size and tail length preference. It has one ring set and is relatively intuitive right out of the box. While the instructions provide specifics and tips on safe babywearing, they make a simple process seem more complicated than it needs to be. Overall, it's quick and easy to use compared to others in the group. Threading the fabric and tightening it up may seem complicated, but the learning curve is short. You can pre-adjust the carrier before your baby is inside. Once set up, slip it on, pop in your baby, and off you go. Making tweaks for comfort or fit is possible while on the go and wearing your baby.

Also, the ComfortFit has a zippered pocket on the end of the sling fabric, which is a useful place to keep smaller or lightweight items.

Ease of Cleaning

The ComfortFit Sling is easier to clean than some contenders, particularly those with thick padding that can take longer to dry. Still, other options score higher in this metric. Also, it has good spot-clean friendliness should messes occur while you're on the go with your baby.

This carrier is machine washable in cold water but needs to line dry to avoid shrinking. Hanging the ComfortFit to dry means this option could be out of commission for longer than you'd like leaving you without a carrier for an extended time, depending on the ambient climate where you hang it.

Should You Buy the Maya Wrap ComfortFit Sling?

Compared to other carriers in our best baby carrier review, we enjoyed using this carrier, and so did our little testers. It's super quick and effortless to put on and use, which is great if your baby is fussy, and we appreciate its ability to fit different-sized wearers. It's also breastfeeding-friendly. However, ComfortFit's fabric is thick and rough, and we suggest passing on this option if you live in a warmer climate or your child has sensitive skin.

What Other Baby Carriers Should You Consider?

The Nalakai Ring Sling is similar in design, and its fabric has a softer feeling and is not as thick. However, if you're willing to undertake wrapping, the Boba Wrap is a soft, stretchy wrap-style carrier that's affordable and comfortable.
