The Skinny

The Safety 1st Glow and Go has been discontinued.
REASONS TO BUY
Above average range for it's price point
Easy to use
REASONS TO AVOID
Poor clarity
Static/interference issues
Only minimal features
The Safety 1st Glow and Go monitor is a low-cost monitor that offers room temperature read out and sound monitoring, along with nightlight and sound lights. While attractively priced, it performed poorly in our tests. While offering above-average reception range for it's price point, it did so with very poor quality. Expect to suffer through static interference when using this monitor, which will impact your sleep and annoy you for the many months/years you will be using your monitor. Our recommendation would be to explore competing alternatives before you buy.

Our Analysis and Test Results

The Safety 1st Glow and Go monitor is a lesson in simplicity.

Likes

It is easy to set up for use, and it's lack of any sophisticated features makes it fall-off-a-log easy to use. We had it fully operational in minutes. Turn it on, and it works. But, ease of set-up only takes you so far in a product you'll be using for several years.

Dislikes

In practice, we found the Glow and Go to be unsatisfactory. While it offers above average range for a monitor at it's attractively low price point, we found the level of static/interference to be unacceptable in our tests. The combination of lots of static and the lack of a sound sensitivity feature to filter out that background noise left us feeling that using this monitor would be painful.

Conclusion

You'll be using a baby monitor for a long time, typically 2-3 years, and the quality of the monitor will directly impact your ability to sleep.

While the low cost and range of the Safety 1st Glow and Go is attractive, we urge you to consider alternatives before buying this monitor.
