Our Analysis

Simplicity Parenting: Using the Extraordinary Power of Less to Raise Calmer, Happier, and More Secure Kids by Kim John Payne, M.Ed. and Lisa M. Ross is a refreshing look at parenting in today's speedy, materialistic and chaotic world. Influenced by the philosophy of the late 19th/early 20th century Austrian educator Rudolph Steiner (which he called "anthroposophy") and the Waldorf Schools, Simplicity Parenting takes a studied look at how to slow down, appreciate the wonder and beauty of childhood, and bring peace and seasonal traditions into the home.

You don't have to be a follower of Rudolph Steiner or have a child in a Waldorf school to see the value in this 258-page book published in 2009; it's really for anyone who is searching for some ideas and ways to raise children more consciously, calmly, and playfully. We think this a motivating resource for bringing more joy and reverence into the family home.
